The Southern Sun waterfront is perfectly positioned immediately outside the entrance to the popular Victoria and Alfred Waterfront. Ideally located for tourists wanting to be close to the city centre, and also for business clients, as the hotel sits opposite the city convention centre. The Southern Sun waterfront is perfectly positioned immediately outside the entrance to the popular Victoria and Alfred Waterfront. Ideally located for tourists wanting to be close to the city centre, and also for business clients, as the hotel sits opposite the city convention centre. The hotel has its own shuttle service to the V&A [meaning unclear] Waterfront.
All the rooms are modern in décor, with light wood furnishings and light colours. All are medium in size and in good condition, with all the services expected from a first-class hotel. The bathrooms are also in good condition, and have a separate bath and shower.
Breakfast is served on the ground floor, and guests can either eat inside or outside. There is also a top-class restaurant offering an à la carte menu and a wide selection of South African wines. There is also a small cellar with a collection of wines and a cigar lounge.
The hotel has a large lobby with marble flooring and a high ceiling with retro lights hanging down. The reception is slick looking with a huge fish tank to its right and the hotel bar is at the back of the lobby, overlooking the hotel swimming pool.
This is a first-class hotel, with a very pleasant open plan entrance, which houses the reception desk, car hire and concierge desk, modern welcoming bar and a choice of two restaurants. The whole area is fitted with dark wood panelling, comfortable modern chairs and sofas and lots of black & [meaning unclear]; white framed pictures of South Africa on the walls, giving it a stylish contemporary feel. The outdoor swimming pool has loungers for guests, and food and drink can be ordered here. (AHJ 0708)
